A5 (5-7/8 x 8-1/4 inches / 148 x 210 millimeters)

This work is one of five that I created in a series called "Pandemic Ponderings" reflecting diverse states of being, moments, and emotions I experienced in 2020 during the pandemic. I drew a small sketch for this piece called "Buoyancy and Ballast" in the thick of early quarantine and the onset of the pandemic. At that time, I was experiencing an almost visceral sense of being both weighed down and lifted up; burdened by grief, limited social contact, fear and uncertainty and also lifted by a deepened sense of life's preciousness, connection to family and home and privileged with the option at times to slow down, reflect on meaningful things, ponder life priorities and sometimes even feel inspired.
