Transposition of air between bodies

Dimensions variable

Ever since I became a mother, my studio is expanding, taking over all the rooms of my house. My studio is now self-generative; it is self-sustaining. As I step outside my house with my daughter, the studio reaches up to every tree and every bird; it swallows every taste and inhales every breath of air. The studio is alive. It is where I step on and where I step in. In myself. With this child that holds my hands, the studio is the body that dances in the spaces between us and the reality within me.

I transmute exhaustion into homages to my body as it is alive now. Knowing and loving my body as the container through where I create: my body is The Studio. This body that I have now is alive after giving birth to my child. It is a body that gives milk to my child for almost two years now.

The plastic bags are containers of the air that was once inside me. The air that travels in and out also does the work of integrating the spaces outside and within myself. As I move these bags, I move the air in them; I see my Studio as it transposes from my body to the bags.

The studio of the artist is the space that we create in the world. It is us. It is the space we make to create ourselves. The body of the mother creates space for the child in the world. It is the space that we make to create others.
