My work explores representations of mothers and mothering that are counter to narrow western patriarchal and consumerist models. This image appropriates the iconography of the Virgin Mary as Protector but here the mother's charges are baby goats wearing pyjamas. Comical and nonsensical, impossible to fully control, they threaten to stray from the safety of the cloak at any moment; the mother's care must be constant.
